Educator Chelsey Knyff and her company B. Historical unlock the past by providing immersive education across a number of historical eras. The importance of hands on learning in any subject helps create a bridge to understanding through entertainment and innovation. As a writer who may be exploring the past or pulling key elements from history into their work, B. Historical provides a unique opportunity to, quite literally, step inside history!

This award winning and accredited Connecticut based troupe have been featured throughout the tristate area and beyond, creating immersive education opportunities at museums, fairs, reenactments, expos and national holiday events. Imagine writing a story set in Colonial America and being able to experience cooking over an open fire with historically accurate tools. Or being able to see and touch expertly recreated textiles and costumes from the Victorian era.

Chelsey, an expert in authentic historical sewing and textile preservation and archival management, will be sharing her knowledge of living history with SJWG this October. She will explain what resources companies like B. Historical can offer writers, and opportunities to engage in immersive history.

Eras that Chelsey and B. Historical present include:

Colonial – These era shows range from the late 17th century to the Revolutionary War.
Victorian – Displays include fashion history.
World War II – Including a full working Signal Corps display, WACs and WAVES.
World War I – Including Prohibition, Women’s Suffrage and Hello Girls.
